Spent Monday working at home on my PhD thesis, apart from a brief trip to local convenience store Jacquis (no need to get on the bike for that). Tuesday was a day in London, meeting in morning and seminar afternoon. No problems with trains, no need to take bike as less than 5 minutes walk from tube stations.

Found out why the new cycle shelters at Market Street Council Offices are having doors fixed - and told Spokes. One shelter is for Council staff, whi need a lockable covered shelter for bikes left there all day. Other one for visitors doesn't need a door at all, is shielded from driving rain by building.

Last night I wrote a Press Release for tomorrow's NWN about Bike Week activities. It may seem like self-publicity but there's no point in public figures doing things they believe is right unless people know they are doing it - and why. Far more people read NWN than this blog (maybe that won;t be the case in 5 years). Anyway, I realise now I should have mentioned this blog in the Press Release, otherwise who'd know I was writing this!?

Got up a bit early this morning to finish off what Martha started yesterday morning: the thrice yearly cycle count at Northcroft Leisure Centre. She did 7-8, I did 8-9 this morning, which was much busier: 49 cyclists in an hour. It doesn't sound much but it it more than last time. When the New Monkey Bridge is finished (by next Cycle Count perhaps?) it should go up a lot.

Then back to my computer for work....

Doing less cycling than a month ago, because we've gone back to doorstep milk deliveries. I used to bike into Tesco Metro every day for the milk. At least that meant some human contact between 9 and 5. Its a sad life for the lone home worker!

Makes me tired just reading Ian's blog! If I bike five miles a day it is unusual. I'll do perhaps ten tomorrow, doing morning planning site visits. Lets see if I beat the rest of the committee in their cars, in rush hour! I did a month ago, last time I biked that far on duty.
